This month: Grandmother decides to leave car running, and child inside vehicle, I guess to run into a store. Steals car at 0:35.
Too many times I see parents just get plain lazy. Instead of taking the child out of the vehicle and taking the 1 year old with her, the grandmother decided it would be easier just to leave her in the car. Obviously you should never do that… don't be lazy, and don't leave your child in the care of someone who is lazy.

Hamilton, NJ - Police are searching for a man who on Sunday stole a running car from a gas station with a 1-year-old girl strapped in a carseat in the back, authorities said.
The man was seen entering and leaving in a Honda parked at the pumps at the Gulf gas station on the 1100 block of Chambers Street around 6 p.m., police Lt. Jeff Martin said. The child'sgrandmother left the girl unattended while she went inside the station's convenience store and that's when the car was stolen, Martin said.
The car was found blocks away on the 600 block of Franklin Street in Trenton about 30 minutes later. The car was tracked through the grandmother's cell phone, which was left inside, Martin said.
It was unclear if the child was left in the car without air conditioning during that time, Martin said.
The child was checked and cleared by emergency medical workers, Martin said.
The car thief is described as a white male 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build, brown hair, a mustache, who wore a dark baseball hat, white tee shirt and blue jean shorts.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Hamilton Township Police Detective Joseph Ialacci at 609-689-5822 or the Hamilton police's tipline at 609-581-4008.

Take your baby out of the vehicle after you've turned off the engine. Make sure you've secured your other doors (closed) and take the baby out on the curb side of the street, onto the sidewalk. Lock doors as soon as possible, to prevent your vehicle from being the target of criminal activity, around your child.
In this video, a woman is bumped by a fleeing criminal, but unfortunately left her car door unlocked while she was driving. Fortunately my vehicle will lock the doors automatically after a minute, but I've gotten into the habit of locking them as soon as I close the door.
Lock your doors! Always! As soon as you get in your vehicle. Incident at 2:04 +.
A short video, explains all, and you can see the parent make the blunder. It doesn't matter how close you will be to your vehicle, or how short of time you think it will take. Always keep your child with you. It doesn't matter that taking the child out will take longer than your run into a store. It doesn't matter. What matters is your child.
Followup baby recovery. Would you allow a thief to take care of your baby? Hire a car jackers as a baby sitter? No? Lock your doors, always keep your baby with you.
Ironic that a stranger who saw the SUV parked and abandoned in the street and baby inside immediately secured the baby, (unlike the father). Learn from his mistake as I'm sure the father has.

It's much easier to learn from other people's mistakes, than live through this sort of situation yourself.
There are a bunch of stories like the few examples I show above, on YouTube.
