I have created a new board to look at all TV shows, commercials, etc. that may have influences on people and on what they perceive is acceptable behavior on the road. I know if there's a cop on the road all drivers know what's acceptable, but when they leave you can immediately tell who could care less about safe driving. Why did they develop that attitude?
Post commercials for a specific vehicle in ONE thread.
One thread per vehicle company, TV show, Documentary or other influence item.
In the US smoking commercials have been banned for maybe 30 or more years. It was once perceived as being a cool thing to do, socially acceptable. It's ironic that they also didn't see the saying that 'bad news is good news' (or however it goes) implying that even bad news promotes one's product, so the commercials that say 'smoking is bad' might actually be promoting cigarette smoking.
There's an image in NYC of 'us tough New Yorkers' that's constantly promoted shown with images of people 'wandering' on the streets (what are we zombies?) and a feeling I get that this is why so many think jaywalking is just fine 'cause I'm a real New Yorker.'
The last image I would like to share is that of New York is open 24/7. Really, so all New Yorkers never sleep ever? The truth is almost everyone goes to bed every night of the year at approximately the same time, so they get the required 7 or 8 hours of sleep that everyone needs. It's true that sanitation, a few taxi drivers, some train operators, and other who work the night shift are up, as in any city, and yes there's even a few people that stay up late once a year at most, or me, trying to get this forum into shape
