Just wanted to share with you all that I signed up for the Big Brother Big Sister program. I'm excited about trying to mentor a young individual. Most of you know that I never had a father figure in my life. Sometimes I think that I have been trying to fill that void for a long time even though that I'm thirty four years old now. Really do wish I had a father to count on when I was growing up, but never happened. I'm hoping being apart of this program that I can make a difference in a young persons life just by being there for them and they can make a difference in mine. I'm also hoping that I can build a relationship that will let them know that there are people in the world that care for their success in life.
I did however, almost become a step dad back when I was twenty six years old to the two most BEAUTIFUL little girls, Anacelle and Maria. I met their mom at my current work place, she was believe it or not a security guard. (NOT BUFF IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING HAHA!) We started talking, and then soon after exchanged phone numbers. I didn't know she had kids and the funny thing is I love kids, but at that time in my life, I didn't want to date someone that already had them, I wanted to start fresh with someone building a family, but then soon my perspective changed.
Spending time with them everyday, going to the local park, watching cartoons, reading stories, playing house, is something that I still miss to this very day. There mom had been hurt so bad from her previous relationship, she thought that I was lying to her when I told her that I was quitting the metal band that I was in to take care of her and her girls FULL TIME! It was without a doubt the roughest time of my life. I wanted to watch them grow, ....., letting them know that I wasn't going to abandon them no matter what mistakes that they made in their life, and that I would love them no matter what. Now I'm out of their life completely. It's been at least eight years since then, but I still think about them everyday and hope they are getting the best out of life. Didn't mean to make this post so personal, all of you are an extension of my family and I'm more than honored to share this with you all.
Hope the Big Brother Big Sister program contacts me.
